Brian C. Moss is the Principal and Head of Acquisitions & Capital Markets at Coventry Real Estate Advisors, a leading private equity firm specializing in U.S. retail and mixed-use real estate. With a $3 billion portfolio under his leadership, Brian has played a pivotal role in driving the firm’s expansion since joining Coventry in 2002. His expertise in real estate investment and capital markets has allowed the firm to successfully navigate market shifts and secure significant returns for its investors.

Brian manages a portfolio of 20 million square feet of retail properties across 43 states in his current role. His responsibilities span managing acquisitions, structuring joint ventures, raising capital, and maintaining relationships with limited partners (LPs). Brian’s ability to identify strategic investment opportunities has been key in optimizing the firm’s assets and maintaining its position as an industry leader. His strategic approach has contributed to Coventry’s long-term success, allowing it to expand its holdings while maximizing returns.

Beyond acquisitions and capital markets, Brian has also been instrumental in shaping the firm’s investment strategies. Post-pandemic, he led efforts to diversify Coventry’s portfolio by focusing on platforms such as net lease and unanchored strip mall developments. These initiatives capitalize on demographic shifts and the wealth transfer currently reshaping the real estate landscape. His foresight in implementing these strategies has resulted in significant growth in Coventry’s Assets Under Management (AUM) and further solidified the firm’s competitive position in the market.

In addition to acquisitions and capital markets, Brian has played a crucial role in asset management. He has overseen the recapitalization of $380 million in legacy investments, where his leadership was key in securing capital, restructuring joint ventures, and executing updated business plans. Brian’s ability to manage complex real estate transactions has been instrumental in ensuring the continued success of these investments. Some of his notable projects include a $100 million mixed-use redevelopment in Salt Lake City and a $250 million ground-up development in Kirkland, Washington.

Before joining Coventry, Brian began his career at Lehman Brothers, where he worked on the Real Estate Partners Fund I. This early experience in private equity real estate gave Brian a solid foundation in institutional real estate investing and capital markets, shaping his career focus on investment strategy.

Brian Moss of New York holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Northwestern University, where he was also a standout member of the Men’s Varsity Tennis Team. He earned Academic All-Big Ten honors and was ranked among the top junior tennis players in Canada and the U.S., earning him a partial scholarship to Northwestern. His academic and athletic achievements set the stage for his future professional success.

Originally from Winnipeg, Canada, Brian moved to Seattle, Washington, with his family before high school. He attended Lakeside High School, where he was a key contributor to the tennis team’s state championship victory. Outside of his professional life, Brian is dedicated to community service, coaching youth soccer, and volunteering for organizations such as the Terry Fox Foundation and Ice Hockey in Harlem.

Brian lives with his wife and three daughters in Brooklyn, New York. He enjoys playing tennis, skiing, and supporting the Winnipeg Jets in his free time. His career, personal values, and commitment to his community reflect his dedication to leadership, excellence, and family.
